Capturing My Heart

Since moving to New Zealand, I have lacked all desire to pick up my camera and take photos. I am not sure if this was a case of travellers’ photography fatigue or just a disinterest in capturing Auckland. Either way, my camera has lain dormant for two years.

Until today.

This morning my intuition told me to take my camera to breakfast. I had little inkling of what I would photograph, only that I should take my camera with me. We were going to breakfast at a new cafe, Zomer, in Takapuna on the North Shore.

As we drove in, the sun sparkled off the water, warming my soul. While waiting for breakfast I wandered down to the beach. The warmth of the sun and the sound of the lightly rolling waves was calming and energising all at once.

Somedays the world doesn’t have to try very hard, for me to fall in love with it.

Here are some of my photos from this moment.
